Siendo originaria de Caribe Mexicano con estrecha relación con el mundo natural, mi trabajo celebra consciente e inconscientemente esta conexión innata y refleja el cambio constante y la sanación que de muchas maneras se encuentran en la naturaleza. Mis pinturas abstractas están llenas de movimiento, rastros orgánicos, así como gestos y marcas enérgicas en constante desarrollo. Estos movimientos se reflejan a través de la repetición de líneas, formas naturales y el uso lúdico de capas, colores y texturas. Manteniendo abierta a las oportunidades y al azar le permite a la obra una sensación de autodescubrimiento abierto, ya que las pinturas evolucionan fluidamente, utilizando esta plataforma para responder a mi mundo interior así como a mi entorno. Simultáneamente, mis pinturas se desarrollan a través de un sentido intuitivo, de impulso e inmediatez. Tratando de usar el canvas como una oportunidad a lo espontáneo, a lo que se siente, lo que es y cómo fluye el mundo natural.

Having been born and raised in Mexico and in a close relationship with the natural world, Russo’s work consciously and unconsciously celebrates this innate connection and mirrors the constant change, healing, and development that can be found in nature in many ways. Russo also welcomes the use of unexpected mediums for her paintings, including natural dyes and pigments such as turmeric, wine, beet, and hibiscus water in combination with the traditional mediums of acrylic paint and oil pastels. Russo integrates these multiple interests and mediums to create her own vision where fluid lines meet painterly abstract realms and textures. The resulting paintings are celebrative ecosystems full of sensitivity and introspection; psychological spaces that find harmony in the maelstrom and encourage appreciation where a balance between something familiar and something to discover comes to the surface.

Isabella embraces a multidisciplinary approach to her practice that sees her working across various mediums to explore the materiality of objects and surfaces – often utilizing and re-constituting found materials as a point of departure for her work. Her abstract paintings are alive with movement, organic traces as well as ever-unfolding energetic gestures and marks– reflected through her repetition of lines, natural forms, and her playful use of layers, colors, and textures. Staying open to opportunity and chance allows her work a sense of openness and self-discovery, as her paintings evolve naturally, Russo gives herself a platform to respond to her inner world as well as her surroundings, in this way, her paintings develop with a sense of intuition, impulse, and immediacy.
